This month we would like to feature Jason Dave's 1962 Chevrolet Impala Convertible.
Jason acquired the car in September of 2007, while searching Ebay. The car was labeled a " Show Car ", but Jason came to find out real soon that the car was not even close to show.
Jason knew that he was going to dismantle the car and rebuild it the way he wanted, but since it was claimed to be a car with only 150 miles on it since an investment of 60K on it, he knew that at least I wouldnt need to buy parts. Just strip it down, and build it back up again. A 4 month job at the most.
Jason drove to Texas to get it. As soon as he saw it, he knew something wasn't right. But, passion always seems to get the best of us, and after looking at a 2800 mile round trip, Jason didn't want to leave empty handed. I had the owner load it on my trailer, and within 26 hours I was home.
The minute Jason put it into drive, he knew there were problems. Big problems. So he drove it into the garage, and started the dismantling. To make a long story short, not one thing on that car was as advertised. The motor was shot, the transmission didn't shift, none of the allegedly "new" parts were new, the list goes on and on. When he stripped the paint off the body, I saw more patches and bondo than I had ever seen. The car looked like a metal quilt.
Jason began the tear down..
It was a complete Frame off restoration that took Jason over 13 long hard months to complete. It has won many shows, best in class, and took first place at one of SoCal's premier indoor car-shows, the Super Show in San Diego.
We here at Custom Car Forums would like to Congratulate Jason on Being our first featured ride.
